IRENE ELIZABETH MCKERRACHER July 15, 1920 - September 6, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Irene Elizabeth McKerracher on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Red River Place Personal Care Home in Selkirk, MB. She was predeceased by her husband George and her sisters, (brothers-in-law) Marion (Colin), Eva (Jack), Edith (Harold) and her brothers, (sisters-in-law) Stan (Dolly), Milton (Esther) and Stuart. Irene was born to John and Elizabeth McKague of Inwood, MB. The sixth of seven children she attended school there and later in Rossburn, MB when the family relocated. On December 23, 1942 she married George McKerracher of Argyle, MB. After a brief stay on Vancouver Island during the war years they returned to Argyle where they worked together on the family farm for 35 years and raised their three children. Irene was always active in the community, a member of the UCW, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a 4-H leader. She loved to bake, sew and garden. She cherished the time spent with her many friends and family. Whether it was a ladies quilting afternoon, a community dance, Fall Supper or family fishing trip she relished the opportunity to socialize. During their retirement years Irene and George spent 13 consecutive winters in Texas, two winters in Victoria, BC and enjoyed a wonderful tour of the British Isles before taking up residence in Lions Manor, Stonewall. Left to cherish her memory are her son George (Sandra); daughters, Linda (Klaus), Deborah (Don) Baldwin; also grandchildren, Darren, Kerry (Karen) McKerracher and Jordon and Jenna (Nicholas) Baldwin; great-grandchildren, Justin, Cameron and Nicole McKerracher as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
