ROBERT EDWARD (BOB) ROBSON
Born: Nov 16, 1928
Date of Passing: Sep 06, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT EDWARD (BOB) ROBSON November 16, 1928 - September 6, 2008 On September 6, 2008 at Victoria General Hospital, Bob calmly took his last breath, surrounded by the love of his family. He is survived by Elsie, his adored and adoring wife of 54 years; his children, Jan (Ray), Grant (Joyce), Graham (Susan), and Paul (Cindy); his four precious princesses, Shannon, Devyn, Hilary, and Paige; Colin; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Winnifred; brothers, Roy, Norm, Ken, and Ed; brother-in-law Mike; daughter-in-law, Allison; and sister-in-law, Alice. Bob grew up in Sturgeon Creek, and was active and athletic from the get-go. Not one for armchair sports, he skiied, biked, swam, played water polo (and competed in the Canada Summer Games in his 40s), jogged, lifted weights, and was just always on the go. His favourite escape was the summer cottage at Nutimik Lake. Most of his working life was spent in the heating and air conditioning business, where his energy, expertise, and wit were much respected. But it was as a husband, father, and grandfather that Bob truly excelled. No task was too onerous if it was for his family. He was an involved Dad and an affectionate husband. His grandchildren brought him more joy than almost anything, and he doted on them shamelessly. The last few years have not been kind to Bob healthwise, and COPD robbed him of his vitality, each breath becoming increasingly difficult. Nevertheless, he handled the indignities of illness with grace, never losing his courage and sense of humour. Many thanks to his special friends at Victoria General Hospital who helped him weather his 5-month stay there. You know who you are. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, on Thursday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Manitoba Lung Association or a charity of your choice. Grief never ends, but it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay. The sense of loss must give way if we're to value the life that was lived. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
