DR. LEON R. LAPOINTE Dr. Leon R. Lapointe, aged 66, of Wichita, KS, retired Neurologist, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008. He grew up in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada and completed his medical education in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After finishing specialty training in Neurology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Lapointe taught at the University of Sherbrooke Medical Center, Quebec, Canada, for 10 years. In 1980 he moved to Clarksburg, WV, to pursue a Neurology practice. Dr. Lapointe practiced Neurology in Wichita, KS from 1991-1999. He was preceded in death by his father René. He is survived by his mother Irene Lapointe of Winnipeg; his wife Patricia, of 43 years; brother Ernest Lapointe of Montreal; sisters, Lorraine Legault of Elie, Manitoba, Bernice Seguier of Lorette, Manitoba, Linda Bothorel and Claire Sylvestre both of Winnipeg; son Rene Lapointe, and daughter Suzanne Hogan of Nashville; granddaughters, Kayla Jackson, and Alexandra Lapointe. Dr. Lapointe was a father figure to many foreign families. He enjoyed gardening, computers, photography, and family gatherings. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, concern for others, and his warm smile. Rosary 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10th and Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, both at Church of the Magdalen, Wichita.
