BLAKE WOODS Peacefully with family by his side, Blake went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2008. Blake was born August 2, 1926 eldest son of Murial and Norval Woods. He married Lucille Kenyon in 1949, and will be sadly missed by his loving wife, as well as daughters, Candis (Richard) Peters, Sharon (Tim) Schwindt; sons, Daryl (Tanyse) Woods, Kevin (Elan) Woods; grandchildren, Carly (Tyler), Chelan, Tyler, Shane, Dayna, Megan, Kolby, Rylee and great-grandson little Jack. Blake was predeceased by infant daughter Linda Diane in 1953. He is also survived by siblings, Grenville (Arlene), Barry (Alice), Keith, Elaine (Don) and many nieces and nephews. Blake's faith and trust in God was evident through prayer, bible study and church activities. He was also a dedicated member of the Gideon Foundation. Blake was employed by N. M. Paterson Sons Ltd. for 37 years, retiring in 1991. He continued to be a part of Paterson Grain by writing and editing the company newspaper and annual calendar. Blake enjoyed listening to gospel music, travelling, and fishing but most of all spending time with close friends and family. He also took great pride in maintaining the flowers at his residence at Lindenholm Place. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Victoria Hospital and extend special thanks to Dr. G. Munsamy for his compassionate care. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at Elm Creek Cemetery. A celebration of Blake's life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Buntain Chapel (Calvary Temple), 400 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, 1821 University Ave. West Suite S256, St. Paul, MN 55104 or to a charity of one's choice.
