DORIS INGVELDUR DAWSON (nee SVEINSSON) Peacefully following a lengthy illness, on September 7, 2008, Doris passed away at Grace Hospital at the age of 84, with family by her side. Doris will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. She is survived by her son Scott (Margaret) of Alberta; sisters Alda, Lillian (Robert), Lois (Alvin), Elaine (Mervin); brothers Albert (Olivemae) and David; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her husband Edward; father Stefan; mother Olafia; brothers Leslie, Norman, Franklin, Allan and Gilbert. Doris was employed for a number of years by the Province of Manitoba. She was the Executive Assistant to four Premiers as well as being the Protocol Officer for the Province. Since her retirement in 1987 she was an avid bowler and member of the Red Hats. But by far her favourite times were spent with family and friends at her cottage at Sherwood Lake. She fondly remembers the Thanksgiving tradition of dinner cooked on the wood stove at camp. A service of remembrance will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor St., Wpg. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Grace Hospital Cancer Care, 300 Booth St., Wpg., R3J 3M7.
