ANGELINA MARUCA (nee SHERBO) On September 8, 2008, our' world lost a precious mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend to many. Angelina was born on May 16, 1917 in Winnipeg. As a child, she spent several years in Italy (Amato) with her family, later returning to Canada. She married Frank Maruca in August, 1935 and lived and raised their family in Winnipeg. Angelina was predeceased by her mother Maria Anania and father Archangelo Sherbo, an infant child at birth, husband Frank (1986), daughter Rose Busilla (1994), sisters Carmelina and Adelina, brothers Tony and Peter. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Maria (Jack) Mushinski, son Tony (Pat) Maruca, grandchildren Teresa (Kieran) Garside, Brenda (Les) Drall, Derek (Connie) Mushinski, Martin (Jasmin) Mushinski, Kristin (Andrew) Ellsworth, David (Jennifer) Maruca, Matthew (Erin) Maruca and great-grandchildren Kelly Garside, Hayden and Jayda Mushinski, Nathan and Madelaine Ellsworth. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Virginia Cosentino and Sera (Joe) Cantafio, sisters-in-law Kae Sherbo and Rose Sherbo. Also, fondly remembered by sons-in-law Gordon Busilla and Ken Dodds, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was our beloved Nana and the matriarch of our family. Upon returning to Canada in 1930, Angie's life was of devotion to family and strong work ethic. From sacrificing her education to stay home and help her family, and to years in sewing factories, Angie's life was one of caring for others. Angie exemplified and taught us strength, caring and compassion. In later years, Angie spent many years sewing, knitting and crocheting, especially knitting for all the grandchildren. She moved to Villa Cabrini in 1993, where she enjoyed many friendships and good times. Since moving back to Canada as a young girl, Angie was very patriotic and loved Winnipeg and Canada, but never forgot her Italian roots. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Derek and Martin Mushinski, David and Mathew Maruca, Andrew Ellsworth and Kieran Garside. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, September 12, at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Father Sam Argenziano as the Celebrant. Viewing will be one half hour before Mass at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery-Osborne Street. You never asked for favours, Yet you did them every day, You never asked for help, And yet you gave so much away, You never asked for gratitude, And yet, our whole like through, We'll always be so grateful, Just to have had your love and you. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Winnipeg. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
