Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER KROEKER With mixed emotion we inform you that Peter Kroeker (April 8, 1925) passed away on September 7, 2008 in the St. Boniface Hospital. On one hand we will dearly miss our husband, father, and Gramps. On the other hand we realize that he is with his Heavenly Father right now in his eternal home, much happier than he was, here on earth. He immigrated to Canada from Spat, Russia with his parents in 1925. He farmed most of his life in the Elm Creek area. In 1990 he moved to Winnipeg, leaving the land, the bush, and outdoor solitude that he enjoyed. He married Lydia Hamm (from Elie) on September 16, 1949. They raised six children: Harold (Valerie Dyck), Loreen (Donald Husband), Ernest (Nicole Robbins), Anne (Greg Trepanier), Michael (Erin Ferris), and Ron (Joanna Karman). Gramps treasured his 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his older brother JW, his parents, and a brother-in-law, Peter Rempel. Surviving siblings are Gert Rempel, Anne Enns (Abe), Wally (Martha), and Betsy Thielmann (Henry), as well, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peter lived his life grounded by Scriptural teachings. Peter was active in his community, served as a school trustee, led Bible Study in his Elm Creek church. In Winnipeg, he volunteered time at Union Gospel Mission. Family thanks staff in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital and WRHA, nurse Barbara Moon for care they showed Peter over the last weeks. Devotional gathering in memory of Peter will be held Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St. Winnipeg. Memorial service will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Elm Creek Mennonite Brethren Church. Donations may be made to Bibles for Children Inc., P.O. Box 3, Winnipeg, R3C 2G1 or Union Gospel Mission, Box 1073-320 Princess Street, Winnipeg, R3C 2X4.
