Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEANETTE (DUMBRELL) MCFARLANE With profound sadness, the family of Jeanette McFarlane announces her sudden passing on Monday, September 8, 2008 after a long and happy life. Mum was born November 22, 1916 in Brandon, Manitoba and moved as a teenager to Fort William (Thunder Bay) with her parents and brother Alan. She married Eldon (Mac) McFarlane in St. Paul's Anglican Church in Fort William and together they raised two daughters, Valerie and Patricia. Mac and Jeanette built their own home on Roslyn Road and lived there most of their married life. They both loved gardening, fishing and camping. After Mac retired they spent the winters in Florida and made many good friends there. Mum moved to Winnipeg six years ago and her years here were some of the happiest years since she lost her husband of 51 years. Right up until the last few weeks Mum was always busy baking cookies for her family. As long as we can remember Gramma's cookie jar was always full. Early every day she could be found in the exercise room walking on the treadmill. She loved to knit and we all have an Afghan that she lovingly made for us. In fact she just finished one a few weeks ago. She is survived by her daughter Valerie (Bill) Sproule and their children Lynda (Rob) Chicorli, Kevin (Nikki) and Shawn. Her daughter Patricia (John) van Herksen and children Darryl (Margaret), Chris (Stephanie), Peter and Marc. Her great-grandchildren Michael, Tyler, Brittany, Latisha, Patra, and Keanna and sister-in-law Elsie Dumbrell as well as special niece Lil (Hugh) Young of Thunder Bay. She was predeceased by her husband Eldon, parents William and Freda Dumbrell and her brother Alan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. The Reverend Bill Millar will be officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
