LARRY MARSHALL (LAWRENCE ALBIN MALAZDREWICH) May 23, 1945 - September 8, 2008 Larry's passion was music. He delighted in unearthing, playing and sharing gems. Larry's life was words -- from journalism to scrabble, to puns. Larry connected with people, ideas, music, stories -- and good cooking. Larry was born in St. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, and lived in Minnedosa, Kenora and The Pas. He attended university in Brandon before beginning the broadcasting and journalism career that took him and his family to many locations in Canada. Most recently, Larry and wife were living in Brandon. Larry Marshall was a journalist for newspapers, radio and television. He reported, and was editor and/or publisher with many dailies and weeklies, including the Winnipeg Tribune, Brandon Sun, Edmonton Sun, Banff Crag Canyon, Canmore Leader, and the BC Sunshine coast weeklies. He was co-founder of the weekly Rocky Mountain Outlook (in Banff-Canmore). He was a writer/researcher, on-air host and producer for CBC radio and television in Regina, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary and Atlantic Canada. His laughter, words, music and love will be profoundly missed by wife Caryl Brandt, daughter Rochelle Marshall, mother Anne Malazdrewich, brother Doug Malazdrewich (Elsie Flette), as well as in-laws Darlene Malazdrewich, Yvette Brandt, Brenda and Tom Thomson, Linda and Kevin Doherty, Monique and Brian Kozak, numerous nieces and nephews and all his finger-picking pals and word-smithing friends. He was predeceased by father Albert Malazdrewich, brother Wally Malazdrewich, son Darryl Marshall and by his first wife, Lorraine (née Kennedy) and father-in-law, George Brandt. Funeral at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church in Brandon (327- 4th St.) Saturday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to either St. Boniface or Victoria Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
