MARY DYCK (WIEBE) March 1, 1919 - September 8, 2008 On September 8, 2008, Mary Dyck joined her voice with the celestial choirs. There were no auditions, just a response to the voice of God in her favourite scripture passage in the book of Isaiah, I have called you by name . Born March 1, 1919 she married John Dyck, in 1940, and farmed in Burwalde, retiring to Winkler. For five months this spring, Chas and Joanne's family was privileged to have her living with them in Winnipeg. Mom's first love in life was always her family, working tirelessly to make sure that we had good food on the table and clothes on our backs. She was an accomplished seamstress. Being a farmer's wife, Mom had a great interest in the weather, and often said that, had she had the opportunity, she might have become a meteorologist. But it was when she was singing, that Mom truly blossomed. She sang in numerous choirs, trios, and ensembles of various sizes for more than 50 years. Mom took great pleasure in her grandchildren and created wonderful memories that they will always treasure. The family thanks the home care workers in Winkler and Winnipeg, especially Hawa and June, nurse Val, and the staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre, for the professional and compassionate care she received. Mom was predeceased by her husband, John, sister Annie, and nieces Kathy and Velma. Left to cherish her memory are her children Howard and Maggie, Chas and Joanne, and Ted and Marge; grandchildren Anthony (Vanessa), Kristine, Jeremy (Janice), Lexi, Jonathan, Cliff (Catherine), Pauline (David), and Toban (Jamie), and great-grandchildren Trudi, Justin, and Keziah. She is fondly remembered by her brother Jake, and his wife Katie, as well as many nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church, 120 Pineview Drive. We love you and will miss you, but know that your alto voice has never sounded as vibrant! You have truly been called by name and have answered the call. Goodbye Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma Auf wiedersehen!
