NICK THOMAS SHINDAK We regret with sorrow to announce the passing of Nick Thomas Shindak on September 9, 2008 at the Health Science centre, at the age of 75. Nick was born November 15, 1932 in Silver Creek, Manitoba. He was the third child of Mike and Antonia (Wylychenko) Shindak (deceased). He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 45 years Phyllis (Stattin), and four children Susan (Greg) Deppendorf, Kevin, Karen, and Colleen; his seven grandchildren Justine, Shea, Sara, Taylor, Kaitlin, Alanna and Chase. Siblings Matt (Gerri), Bill, Jack, Ann (Bob), Henry (Anita). He is predeceased by his sister Helen (Chuck) Faery and brother Paul (Kay). Nick worked a variety of jobs including farming, driving logging trucks for McMillan Bloedel in BC, at the Gm Trim Plant in Windsor Ontario from 1967 1973 and then returned to Manitoba in 1973. Nick retired from MacDon Industries as a forklift operator. Retirement didn't stick and he enjoyed 10 years with Rick and Cindy of Good Turf Lawn Centre to October 2007. Known as a smooth dancer, enjoyed a good polka; fishing; golfing; and gardening. Any hands on activity including finding treasures in junk yards, and lending a helping hand to anyone who asked. A celebration of life in Nick's honor will be held on Saturday, September 13, at the Mosaic Funeral Home 1839 Inkster Blvd at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity.
