SIDNEY (SID) SAMUEL SHWALUKE Peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, surrounded by family and close friends, Sidney Samuel Shwaluke husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 63 years. Remaining to forever cherish Sid's memory are his wife of 40 years of marriage, Helen Shwaluke (Gallant); son Kevin (Kym) and granddaughters Rachel and Kailey, and son Trevor (Maria); sisters Pat and Elsie (Hayden); brothers, Earl (Nancy), Ted (Phyllis) and Maxie. He was predeceased by his father Paul in 1980 and mother Annie in 2007. Sid was born in Shoal Lake on February 7, 1945 and grew up on the family farm. He married Helen on August 31, 1968. Sid started his career with the Swifts in 1962 for 17 years, he made a move to CN Rail in 1979 and was there for 18 years and finished his career as a welder at Northern Blower. Sid and Helen settled in Transcona and had two sons; Kevin and Trevor. He loved the outdoors and spent countless falls hunting with his son Kevin. Sid and Helen also loved camping and spent numerous summers at Brokenhead campground in Beausejour. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 710 Roanoke Street, with Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves, presiding. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to mass. The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare and the nurses and doctors on GA4 at Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare in Sid's memory to further cancer research.
