HAROLD WELDON RIDLEY Harold Weldon Ridley, passed away at his home September 13, 2008. He was predeceased by his father Ivan. He is survived by his wife Jane, children: Sally-Jo, husband Jeff (Ross), Mary Jane, Duncan, Nancy and son Turner, mother: Gladys Dale, sisters: Jackie Hodgson and Cathy Poole, Aunt Mabel Wilcox, nephews and nieces. Weldon was born in Winnipeg on January 29, 1933. Weldon spent his childhood years in southern Manitoba in the communities of Kaleida, Beausejour and Norwood. He was a talented young athlete and played pro baseball in the United States. He graduated in Pharmacy from the U. of M. in 1958 and joined his father's business, Ridley's Drugs Store in Morden, Manitoba. A successful entrepreneur, Weldon built and operated the Morden Motor Inn (affectionately known as Rids), from 1967 until 1993. He was an active member of the Morden Curling Club and played an integral part in the development of the Minnewasta Golf Club. A respected curler and golfer, he captured many championships in both sports. Weldon was a man of strong character, quick wit, and will be missed by many. At Weldon's request there will be no funeral service. Interment will take place in Morden, Manitoba at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Jan K. McIntosh, Pam Luehr, the palliative resource and community health teams for their excellent care. Friends are invited to join in a Toast to Weldon at his home in Kelowna, Wednesday the 17th of September from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.   • Jane, I am so sorry to read of the passing of Weldon. I know you will have many fond memories and you will be amazed how they will sustain you. No more calling out to him as he is passing by on his golf cart. That was so unique. Alma and I had such a super visit with you guys a few years ago. Thanks. She, Alma also sends her condolences.
