Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEN WASKUL Early on the morning of September 14, 2008 Ben Waskul died peacefully after a brief courageous battle with cancer. Ben was born October 8, 1944 in Vita, Manitoba, one of nine children. Ben worked on the family farm, did some temporary jobs and eventually began his own trucking company delivering everything from mail to truck cabs long distance and hauling sod locally. For at least three decades he worked the winter roads of northern Manitoba which really became one of his passions. One of his favourite hobbies was rebuilding old tractors and machinery. There was never a mechanical challenge too great for him to conquer. The tractors he restored were entered in the Rockland Antique Tractor Club. Ben was a loving and proud father to Colin and Darren, a loving and gracious stepfather to Martin and Amanda. He was especially proud to be a grandfather to Andrew. Ben was predeceased by his son Colin, brother Frank and parents Mike and Nellie. Ben is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his partner of 20 years Jeannie, son Darren, daughter-in-law Alison, grandson Andrew, stepchildren Martin and Amanda (Joseph). He is also survived by seven siblings Mary (Fred deceased), Olga and Frank, Willie and Olga, Jerry (Frances deceased), Ann and Leonard, Jean and Paul, Emil and Dianne, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the trust fund for grandson Andrew D. Waskul c/o Scotiabank, 337 Main Street, Selkirk, Manitoba, R1A 1T3.
