KENNETH JOSEPH BACON May 31, 1920 - September 12, 2008 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Joseph Bacon on September 12, 2008 with family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Lorne (Sandy), James (Sharon) of Edmonton, AB and Neil; brother Laurence (Shorty) of Saskatoon, SK; and grandchildren, Todd, Brent, Lindsay, Sheena, David, Brenley and Kelly. Kenn was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret on July 29, 2008; father William; mother Mary; two sisters and five brothers. Dad was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on May 31, 1920. He spent two years as an operating room orderly in Saskatoon prior to enlisting in the Army Medical Corps in June of 1940. He served in Canada, England, Normandy and Northwest Europe until his discharge in January 1946. While in the service he met the love of his life, Margaret, in Normandy, and later married in England on July 3, 1945. Once discharged from the army Kenn went on to work for the CNR for 27 years. Kenn enjoyed spending the summer months golfing and spent much of the winter months curling. He was very active in the Transcona Legion and enjoyed visiting area schools on countless Remembrance Days to tell his story of the war. We would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff on the 7th floor west of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and hard work. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. Reception to follow at the Transcona Legion, 117 Regent Ave. E. Transcona Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
