BERTHE AYOTTE On September 18, 2008 with her family at her side, Berthe Ayotte (nee Rajotte) peacefully passed away at the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, at the age of 92 years. Mom is survived by her son Gilbert and daughter-in-law Jeannine; grandchildren Patrick and Jacquie (Melanie, Nathan, Griffin), Brian and Karine (William), Brigitte and Patrice. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Gerry, Marc and Marlene, Aline Rajotte, Julie Gorges, Lorraine Goodman, and a special little sister Beth Richardson; as well as her in-laws, Marilyn Rajotte, Marie Rajotte, Olive Haley, Annie Bruyere, Solange Ayotte, and Marie-Ange Boulet; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Leo in 1987, her grandson Daniel in 1993, her parents Hermas and Ida, brothers Olivier, Leo, Marcel, Roland, and Fernand (Finnouche), and sisters Isabelle, Ferdinande, Therese, and Eveline. Mom was born in St. Pierre Jolys on September 3, 1916. She was the fourth oldest in a family of fifteen. They were a large family but her Dad always found a few spare nickels in his pockets so the kids could go to the movies in St. Pierre Jolys on Saturday night. In 1936 Mom entered the order of the Holy Name of Jesus Mary, and remained until 1941 when ill health forced her to leave. She later met Dad and they were married in 1946. They lived and worked on the farm until 1970 when they moved to town. Mom worked as a librarian in the school for many years, and she would also substitute at the school. She loved working in the yard and with her flowers. Mom loved her coffee, a cigarette, and a cribbage board. After Dad passed away, Mom moved to Winnipeg where she made new friends. She was also very happy to be closer to her brothers Gerry and Marc, and sister Aline. Mom was most happy when the grandchildren and great grandchildren visited. The family would like to thank the staff at the Red River Valley Lodge for the care and understanding in the five and a half years that Mom was a patient. You are all truly Angels. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to be sent to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. We Love You, We Will Miss You, Say Hi To Dad And Dan For Us. The funeral service will be held in St. Jean Baptiste on Tuesday September 23 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place, and burial will take place following the service.
