Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE GLENDINNING CROCKER (nee LAIDLAW) June 18, 1902 Sept. 19, 2008 Peacefully, at Calvary Place, Annie Glendinning Crocker, daughter of the late Henrietta Ross Black and Thomas Laidlaw. Anne was proud of her heritage as the granddaughter of Dr. John Black of Kildonan and the great-granddaughter of Alexander Ross of Red River. Anne was born at 274 Furby Street in Winnipeg. She attended Mulvey and Kelvin schools and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 1922. A member of the University's first Education class, she taught at Laura Secord and Gordon Bell. At Gordon Bell she met Linden John Crocker whom she married on July 7, 1937. Anne and Lin raised their two daughters while living on Arlington and Ash streets. In 1956 Anne returned to teaching at Earl Grey and River Heights, retiring in 1968. She was an active member of Knox United Church, serving as UCW President, on the Board, and as a Trustee. She was an honourary life member of the University Women's Club and of the Annie A. Bond Guild of the Children's Hospital. Anne was predeceased by both her loving husband Linden John and her beloved brother Thomas Walter in 1965. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Jones of Vancouver, and Frances Woolison (Jim); grandchildren, Karen, James, Garth, and Katelyn; niece Beverly Ann Scott; and great-nephews, Peter, Tim, and Andrew Scott. Anne's family extends their deepest gratitude to all the devoted staff of Calvary Place, who cared for her with such love and compassion. A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton Street on Monday September 22 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Bill Millar officiating. Interment in Old Kildonan Cemetery at a later date. Anne's family extends their deepest gratitude to all the devoted staff of Calvary Place, who cared for her with such love and compassion.
