DORIS OLIVE STEWART (nee SMART) Peacefully after a brief illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of our mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on Friday, September 19, 2008, at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg at the age of 87 years. A long time resident of St. James, Doris loved her garden, yard and most importantly her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her meticulous house was often recognized by Winnipeg in Bloom and for her annual Christmas display. Doris enjoyed football and was an avid Blue Bomber fan and regular season ticket holder. Doris is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Fry, Calgary, Glenna Neil (Ed), Calgary, Joyce Scott (Dave), Crossfield, AB., Debbie Stewart, Winnipeg; sons, Jim Stewart (Catherine), Ottawa, Jack Smart, (Sandy) Calgary; grandchildren, Shelley, Brent, Jamie, Kimberley, Blair, Sophie, Elijah; greatgrandchildren, Aleya, Taran, Cody, Grace, Skye, Matthew, Daniel, Liam and by sisters, Florence Wilson and Ruth Smart, both of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband, Glen Stewart; sisters, Mary, Rachel, Jean, Hilda, Grace and Evelyn and by brothers, Jack, Bob, Stan and Dave. A celebration of Doris' life will take place on Tuesday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m., in the St. James United Church, 234 Parkview Street, Winnipeg, with Rev. Bev Ward, presider. Interment will take place (family members only) on Wednesday, September 24, in the Woodlands Cemetery, Treherne Manitoba. Special thanks to Dr. Schellenberg, the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation would be most appreciated.
