JOHN JAMES (JIM) FLYNN Peacefully on September 20, 2008 at the Betel Home, Jim Flynn aged 94 years, of Selkirk, MB. Jim was born on a farm near Ewart, MB, on November 5, 1913. He married Margaret Meikle in Brandon in 1930 and they moved to Selkirk in 1938. He served overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War from 1943 to 1946. He retired from the Selkirk Mental Health Center as a psychiatric nurse in 1978 after 39 years of service. Jim lived a very generous life. He loved to work and in latter years he mostly loved and enjoyed his pets. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (Maggie) in 1991, sons Douglas in 1974 and Donald in 1995, and granddaughter Denise in 2002. He leaves surviving a son Warren, daughter-in-law Mary Ellen, grandchildren Bridget (Don), Mike (Laurie), Maureen (John), Mark (Melanie), Margaret and Patricia (Henry); great-grandchildren Rory, Koren, Jillian, Chris, Mike, Joshua, Patrick and Joey; and great-great-grandchildren Jasper, Kivah and Nathaniel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Knox Presbyterian Church, Selkirk with Rev. Anton Bouw officiating. Viewing at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to service. Interment will follow in the St. Clements Cemetery. Jim's pallbearers will be Mark, Mike, Maureen, Rory and Bridget Flynn and John Molloy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
