PETER RINGACH July 5, 1914 - September 21, 2008 Peacefully, with his family at his side, Pete (Rex) Ringach went to his eternal rest. Pete leaves to mourn his passing his wife Dorothy of 63 years, son Barrie (Marj), daughter Marilyn (Leonard), sister Elsie, many nieces and nephews and good friends Bobbie Anderson, Bob and Bernice Jarvis. He was predeceased by mother Mary, father John, sisters Ann (Sam), Pearl (Doug), Margaret (Mac), Helen (Arthur), Loretta (George), brother William (Elsie) brother-in-law Nick and nephew William. Pete enlisted with the Winnipeg Royal Engineers and served during the Second World War in Germany, France, Holland and England. In England he met and married his beloved Dorothy. Pete returned to Winnipeg in 1945 and Dorothy followed in 1946. Once back in Winnipeg he took up his career as a boilermaker. Pete returned for a brief time to England and also worked in Hamilton, Ontario before returning to Winnipeg where he finished his 30 plus years of work. Pete was well known in Transcona for his marathon walks, often covering 10 miles or more in a day. He also loved to garden and was always quick to share his harvest. Pete was a very friendly man who loved to talk and was probably better known in the local Safeway store than the staff. For many years, Pete was an active member of the Transcona Legion. Pete will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West with Reverend Carol Fletcher presiding. Reception to follow at the Transcona Legion. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff of 5E at St. Boniface Hospital.
