JOHN JAMES ARTHUR DUNCAN BRAITHWAITE WALLIS (J.B.; TONY ) Tony passed away peacefully at his home at Clearwater Bay, Ontario on September 20, 2008. John, Tony to those who knew him well was predeceased by his parents J.B. and Martha (Duncan) and stepmother Edna (Riley), and first wife Mary in 1994 and second wife Jaye in 2001. Tony is survived by his son John (Bernadine), daughter Jane (Bruce) Goodridge, and stepson Hugh Macneil and Hugh's son David. He was born on April 22 in Winnipeg. After high school at Kelvin, he joined the RCAF during the Second World War, serving as a pilot. Tony studied engineering after the war, and worked as a highways engineer before embarking on a career in business. He owned and operated Wallis Agencies Insurance for many years. Tony had many interests, such as trap, skeet and target shooting, hunting and fishing, model aircraft building and flying, and photography. He could repair anything, and could engineer a solution to almost any problem. He was an avid cottager, first at Husavik, and later at Lake of the Woods where his father was a pioneer cottager as the original teacher of Teacher's Island in Clearwater Bay. Tony later built a camp in Ptarmigan Bay on a site he had camped at with his father in the 30s. After the death of his first wife Mary (nee McRae) in 1994, he married Jaye Clement (nee Pye) and relocated to Clearwater Bay in 1995 where he resided until his death. In many ways, it was his dream retirement by the lake with his hobbies. It's been a good life. At Tony's request, cremation has already taken place with a private family interment planned for October. A memorial service will be held at Brown's Funeral Home Cremation Centre on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Manitoba) Inc. at 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5.
