AMANDA REIMER Amanda was born April 23, 1921 in Steinbach, MB. She passed away September 23, 2008 at Calvary Place, Winnipeg. Amanda was the eldest child of Peter B. Reimer and Katherina (Friesen). She is survived by brothers Carl, Eric, Peter and one sister Arlie Roberts (Wally). She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Frank F. Reimer, Katherine Reimer (Martin), Anne Giesbrecht (Neil), Otto Reimer, Werner Reimer, then Johnny Reimer, Paul Reimer, Charlotte Kennedy (Chris), Henriette Reimer (Victor), Gracie Reimer. Amanda was educated in the Steinbach school system, and then graduated in 1951 at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Post grad work included Midwifery in England and tropical Medicine in Belgium. She attended Grace Bible Institute, Omaha, Nebraska and served with Congo Inland Mission, Africa. Her faith in Christ was evidenced by her service to others. Amanda retired from nursing in the mid 80s, (after faithfully serving both patients and staff at Grace Hospital) so that she could continue serving her family, friends and neighbours. Her sewing machine was always humming, her cook stove was always warm and the table set for another party. Friends and loved ones constantly called for help and she was always busy with the needs and wants of others. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Buntain Chapel at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St, Winnipeg on Saturday, Sept 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with a time of fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to Calvary Place, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg R3E 3R6. The family is most thankful for the loving care given by the Calvary Place staff. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Born Amanda Reimer, after my great aunt Amanda Reimer, I have a lot of memories spending time with my Aunty Mandy the first 7 years of my life while I lived in Canada. I think of my Aunty Mandy whenever my family calls me by my nickname, Mandy. I clearly remember Aunty Mandy's graduation picture from Nursing school; she was a beautiful woman. Her brother Eric is my Grandpa and I could not ask for a better one. I know Aunty Mandy would have loved to meet her great great niece Bella, as I remember her being so kind to me as a child. I hope you are resting in peace Aunty Mandy and smile as I remember you today. Please say hello to my Grandma, your sister-in-law, Laura for me. - Posted by: Amanda Karczewski (Great Niece) on: Feb 05, 2015
