HELENA (HELEN) LETKEMAN (nee FRIESEN) 1930 - 2008 On Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Helen Letkeman, aged 77 years, went to her eternal rest. She leaves to mourn her passing, children Allan (Wendy) of Courtenay BC, Eleanor (Mel) of Winnipeg, Jack of Thunder Bay ON, Gordon of Powell River BC, Russell of Winnipeg, Richard (Sandra) of Winnipeg and Agnes of Maple Ridge BC; grandchildren Heidi (Jake), Joshua, Jordana, Zachary, John, Kandace, Tracy, Christina (Brett), Gordon, Christopher, Amy and Adam; great-grandchildren Cody, Owen, Elizabeth and Tyler. She also leaves to mourn brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends and relatives. Mom/Ma/Nana was very proud of each of her children for their accomplishments and even though they're spread across the country, did her best to keep close ties with each one. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and Nana kept tabs on each and every one making sure she knew about their latest updates of their achievements and goals. When the great-grandchildren began arriving we thought her heart would burst with happiness whenever she even mentioned one of their names. Mom had worked for the Provincial Government in the Maintenance department for many years and was very proud of that fact. She was an activist in the neighbourhood working very hard at making sure it was a safe and quiet environment. She was a feisty lady and anything and everything she did from raising her children to decorating her famous cakes was with compassion and conviction. Our Mom/Ma/Nana will be sadly and lovingly missed. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc. Funeral Home, 984 Portage Ave. (Aubrey Street entrance) Winnipeg. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Because of her expression that she used frequently, Give me the roses while I live , flowers are gratefully declined.
