WILLIAM SHAW JOHNS October 10, 1938 - September 25, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce Bill's passing. After a courageous battle with cancer Bill passed away peacefully on September 25, 2008, with his family by his side. Bill was predeceased by his daughter Caitlin in 2002. Bill will be lovingly missed by his wife Morag; children Greg (Josi), Jeff (Janelle); son-in-law Scott; beloved grandchildren Caelum, Gabriel, Matthew, Emmett and Alexander; and sister Nora (Gerry). He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bill was born in Coniston, Ontario and grew up in Port Credit, Ontario. He attended Lakefield College School and upon graduation set off to attend the University of New Brunswick where he met his wife Morag. Bill worked for Great West Life for many years in a career that began in Toronto and included stops in Saskatoon, Edmonton and finally Winnipeg. After retirement he worked part time at McDiarmid Lumber, and full time at his favorite job, being a grandpa. Whether it was building models with eldest Caelum or bouncing the younger ones on his knee, Bill found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. Bill's kind nature and sunny disposition touched all those who knew him. The family would like to thank all those who had a hand in Dad's care, and in particular, we would like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their kindness. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with an interment and reception to follow. Remembrances in Bill's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Wpg., Mb, R3E 0V9. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
