GEORGE (MAC) ALEXANDER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, George (Mac) Alexander on Friday, September 26 at the Pembina Manitou Health Centre. Left to treasure his memory are sons, Ted (Pat), Dan (Peggy); daughters, Joan (Brian) Duncan and Susan MacDonnell; seven grandchildren, Karen Romero, Heather Imrie, Margo Karow, Calem and Warren Alexander, and Glenn and Garry Duncan, and 16 great-grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Gladys; his parents, George and Jessie Alexander; brothers, Jim and Dave; sisters, Isabelle, Jean and Margaret, and son-in-law, Thomas MacDonnell. Dad was born October 14, 1915 on the family farm south of Miami. Dad and Mom were married in 1937 and farmed until 1966, when they moved to Miami. In 1997, they celebrated 60 years of marriage, with family and friends. Dad was a tireless community volunteer. He served as Chairman of the School Board, and worked with others to establish valued community assets. He received honorary life memberships in the Miami Agricultural Society, Miami Curling Club, Miami Golf Club and the Roland Golf Club. Dad was an avid curler, golfer, and fisherman and he and Mom enjoyed many trips with family and friends to national and world curling events, golf trips to Florida, and fishing trips to northern Manitoba. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of the Pembina Manitou Health Centre for the wonderful care and compassion offered to Dad during the past five years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30, at 1:00 p.m. at the Miami Community Centre, with Reverend Allison Halstead officiating. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
