Date of Passing: Sep 24, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE EILEEN LEVESQUE (nee APLAND) Peacefully with her family by her side, we announce the passing of Rose Levesque on September 24, 2008 at the Health Science Centre. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 61 years Rene; daughter Karen (Grant); daughter-in-law Kathy; cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Krista, Noelle, Lisa; great-grandchildren, Ella, Ava; sisters, Gladys (Norris), Lorna (Robert) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her only son Raymond in 2004; brothers, Jake, Harry, Arnold, Lawrence; sisters, Sarah, Stella, Edna, Ann. Rose was born on July 30, 1920 on the family homestead in Marchwell, Saskatchewan. In 1939 she apprenticed as a hairdresser in Humbolt, Saskatchewan. She moved to Winnipeg in 1942 and purchased Margo Beauty Salon where she continued her love of hairdressing for 56 years, making life long friends along the way. She was an active member of St. Mary's Cathedral CWL and received an award for Volunteer of the Year in 1993 given by the City of Winnipeg. Her family was most important to her. She was a loving, caring wife to Rene and to her children, Ray and Karen, and a great support to all her family. She enjoyed many family vacations at Grand Beach at the family cabin as well as many road trips with Rene visiting family across Canada. When grandchildren were born, she took great interest in spending time with them as they grew up and was so proud of all four granddaughters in all that they have achieved. But it was the newest members of her family, who made her a great grandmother, that brought joy back into her heart. She will be deeply missed and cherished by her loving husband, daughter, daughter-in-law, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to Kathy Levesque for all her love and support during this most difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rose's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Funeral service will be held Monday, September 29, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home.
