She leaves behind her daughter Barb Ahronson (Dave), son Bob (Cathy Connors) and three grandchildren, Geoff (Kendra), Ashleigh, and Derek as well as several nieces and nephews. Her first great-grandchild is due in November. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on October 27, 1908, Mom came to Canada with her parents in 1913. She lived most of her life in the Fort Rouge/Riverview areas where she attended Mulvey and Kelvin Schools. She bowled for many years at the Park Alleys on Osborne Street. Music was a large part of Mom's life. She was an accomplished pianist and had a lovely contralto voice. If she wasn't accompanying on the piano, she was singing in the choir and choral groups around the city. Mom wrote and arranged music for soloists, choruses and choirs and sang with and accompanied the Ceol Mara singers from their inception in 1981 to 1997. She was a member of the Riverview United Church choir for over 35 years. Mom was also an avid crafter and her family and many friends have been the recipients of her work over the years, especially her beautiful Christmas ornaments. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their care over the last six years with special thanks to the Special Needs Unit staff, notably Monica, Lin, Sandra, Heather and Judy. Many thanks to Kay Sayers for her love and support. Cremation has taken place with a private family interment service to follow. A memorial service will be held at Grey Street United Church, 651 Sandhurst Ave. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Bonita Garrett presiding.
