VICTOR OREST HOMINIUK Victor Orest Hominiuk, aged 72 years of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre. Victor was born December 17, 1935 in Vilna, Alberta to Steven and Mary Hominiuk. He and his brothers were raised on the farm, but spent most of their young lives in Edmonton. From 1959 to 1979 he was married to Harriet Kane with whom he had two girls. In 1980 he married Nancy Kippen. Victor earned his CMA and enjoyed a long career with the Federal Civil Service. Throughout his career he also taught accounting night classes at Red River College. Victor was always passionate about playing or watching sports. He loved baseball, hockey, football, golf and curling. He was always an enthusiastic supporter of the teams from his boyhood hometown of Edmonton. Victor is survived by his wife Nancy; his daughters, Jennifer (Paul) of Calgary and Lisa (Eric) of Spokane; and stepdaughters, Jennifer (Ray) and Wendy (Michael). He leaves behind grandchildren, Michelle, Jordyn, Eric and Sydney; and stepgrandchildren, Marcus, Mathew and Katherine. He is survived by a brother Peter (Anne) of Edmonton; nephews, Ken, Tim (Allison), Jim (Robin); and great-nephews and niece, Alex, Emily and Nathan. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Edmonton at a later date. Our family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Lions Supportive Housing and the 4th floor staff at Lions Personal Care Centre for their compassionate care of Victor over the last three years. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
