Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN CECILIA KILLEEN Kathleen Cecilia Killeen, (nee Cronin) passed away peacefully on October 3, 2008, after a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan Killeen, her parents, John Cronin and Cecilia Cronin (nee Farr) by her brother John Cronin and by her sisters Margaret DeNicola, Mary June Elliott and Tanty Cox. She is survived by her sister, Veronica McPherson, her son, Timothy Killeen and Irene Hamilton, her daughter Ronna Killeen and Scott Harper and grandchildren Regan Giesinger, Matthew Giesinger, Michael and Ingrid Giesinger and Charlie Killeen, Max Harper and Olivia Harper as well as many nephews and nieces. Kathleen was born near the family farm at Tisdale, Saskatchewan on May 9, 1919. With her family, she moved to Forester, Oak Lake and then to Winnipeg in 1928. She attended St. Edward's School, St. Mary's Academy and Business College before moving to Edmonton to work with the U.S. Army during the war. She then returned to Winnipeg and worked at Great West Life. She and Allan were married in 1953. After raising her family, she returned to work at Sherwin Williams, selling paint and wallpaper with her friend Ann and later managing stores at Polo Park and on Portage Avenue. After retirement, she spent many happy hours with her grandchildren, with her nephew Dennis and with her friend Helen. Every day they were off on some new adventure, many of which revolved around trips to lunch, to bargain hunt. Every Saturday evening, she attended Mass at The Holy Rosary, then was off with her friends for dinner. She walked around her neighbourhood every evening, even on the coldest nights of the year. Kathleen devoted her life to her family. She spent countless hours caring for her mother, aunt, sisters and friends. She loved to laugh. She seldom finished a joke; she'd be in tears of laughter. She loved to dance and she loved to tell stories about the old days. Mostly she loved to be needed and she was. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Lions Manor Personal Care Centre and in particular the staff on the fourth floor for their kindness to her over the last two years. She loved the activities and could always be counted on to join in with any music or singing. Pallbearers will be John Elliott, Murray Elliott, Larry Licharson, Rick Mcdonagh, Andy Mcdonagh and Jeff Cox. Prayers will be held on Thursday, October 9 at 8:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue. The funeral will be at Holy Rosary on Friday, October 10 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow.
