SIEGFRIED GUNTER BRUENIG (FRED) Peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2008, with family by his side, Siegfried Fred passed away at the Portage District General Hospital. Fred will be sadly missed by wife Lorraine (nee Wright); daughter Loree (Gerry) Brega; son Michael (Wanda), and his grandchildren, Elisa (Wes) Wiebe, Jordan and Mikkela Bruenig. Dad was born November 9, 1936 in Schöningen Elm, Germany and made Manitoba his home in 1957. The journeys you shared, and lessons you taught, with the strength of your pride and determination will guide us and keep us safe. Surrounded in your love and the love you shared of Germany, you will be forever held close in our hearts, Fred, Dad and Opa . The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of the Portage District General Hospital for their care during his stay. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8 or to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, c/o Catherine Newham Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Cres., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1A7.
