LAWRENCE BILL LABIUK It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lawrence Bill Labiuk on October 4, 2008. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gloria; his children Darcy (Cheryl, Zachary, Aaron), Hayley (Tony, Mandy, Jenna), Tracey (Paul, Brittany, Ashley), Kevin (Jeannine, Dylan, Chanelle), Shawn (Denisha, Sheaya), Lisa (Dan, Nicholas, Connor), Lauren (Janet, Keaira, Breanna), and Jamie (Roxane, Eric, Jeremy). He will also be missed by his brothers: Clifford (Patricia), Victor (Pat), John (Diane), Pete, and Orest (Elaine); his sisters: Alice (Vic), Liz (John), and Jessica (Russ); his father-in-law Sam Chemerika, his brother-in-law Larry (Sherian), his sisters-in-law Linda (Ed), Muriel (Gord) and Lisa as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Anne and Bill Labiuk, his mother-in-law Mary Chemerika, his brothers Nester and George and his brother-in-law Nicky. Lawrence was born on August 14, 1939 in Mountain Road, Manitoba. He married Gloria (Chemerika) on June 20, 1964. He worked for CN in the signals department for 34 years before retiring in 1993. He had a great passion for the outdoors which included: hunting, fishing, gardening, mushroom and berry picking which he passed on to his children. He also had a great love for woodworking, cooking, and making wine and beer. Lawrence was a very hard working man and would do anything for anybody. Special thanks to Dr. Latosinsky and staff at Cancer Care and Health Sciences Centre for all their care. Prayers will be held Thursday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue. Funeral service will take place on Friday, October 10 at 10:30 a.m. also at the church with Father Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main Street. Pallbearers will be his five sons and grandson Zachary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lawrence's memory to Cancer Care or Ducks Unlimited.
