FREDERICK TAYLOR (SKWAREK) Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Fred Taylor, aged 78 years, of Gimli, beloved husband of Aartje, passed away at the Gimli Community health Center on October 6, 2008. Fred had worked for the Royal Bank for 21 years prior to retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree Knight. He was very community minded and was a volunteer for 13 years for Evergreen Basic Needs and Food Bank. Fred had a deep faith and attended church every week. He had a passion of opera singing and playing the organ. He loved nature and the outdoors and enjoyed his daily walks in the countryside. Fred was a loving and caring man who will be in our hearts forever. Fred leaves surviving his beloved wife Aartje, stepchildren Arnold, Kathy (Len), Lloyd (Judy), Joan and Janet; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Katherine; brothers John, Michael, George and Frank; and sisters Anne, Rosie and Mary. Prayers will be said on Friday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Gimli with Fr. Wayne Morrissey officiating. Interment will follow in the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Thanks to Dr. R.C. Patel and the nurses and staff at the Gimli Hospital for their care and support. Special thanks to good friends Carl and Judy Malinowski.
