MARIA (MARY) LOUISA HERMANA FRACISCA JANSSEN (nee WEEKERS) On October 8, 2008 Mary passed away suddenly in her home. She leaves behind her ever-loving husband, Willem (Wim), who cared tirelessly for her in her ailing state. Mary will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren, her son Paul, and his children Paul, Lisa and Megan; her son Willie, his wife Gisele and children Robert, Thomas and Stacey; her son Jules; her son Michael, his wife Darlene and children Willie, Erin and Michael, step children Tanya, Lisa and Jamie Parker and grandsons AJ and Jaden; and her daughter Charlotte and her children Maria, Matthew and Peter De Sanctis. Mary will also be missed by her brothers and sisters in The Netherlands: Louis Weekers, Jos Weekers (Lies), Twan Weekers (Thea), Jacques Weekers (Nettie), Leny Caris (Sjra) and Benny Hermans (Piet); and her sisters-in-law Nellie Janssen Konings, Netty Janssen, Tiny Janssen and Toos Weekers and her numerous nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her brother Piet Weekers (Jacqueline), sister Els Haspers (Otto), Annie Hendriks (Thieu), Emanual Weekers (Toos), and by her in-laws Mien Wilms (Leo), Harry Janssen (Lies), Jan Janssen (Jo), Frans Janssen (Maike), Jacques Janssen (Netty) and Gerrit Janssen (Tiny). Mary was born in Weert, The Netherlands on August 4, 1924, married Wim on August 8, 1950 in St. Martinus Church in Weert. They emigrated to Canada with their son Paul in June, 1953. They landed in Halifax, and settled in Saskatchewan for twelve years and Alberta for one year, prior to moving to Winnipeg in 1966 with their five children. Mary had a love of life and her family, and until her dying day still loved a good joke or wry comment. She devoted herself tirelessly to the well being of her husband of over 58 years and her children, and did everything with love and pride. Her favourite activities were cooking, walking, biking, knitting, sewing, playing cards and completing puzzles. Even with advanced dementia she remembered all she loved and cared for them. A funeral mass will be held at St. John Brebeuf R C Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 with a reception following the mass at the Church. Flowers gratefully declined.
