BRIAN KEITH GRIFFITHS Brian Keith Griffiths was born in Battleford, Saskatchewan on June 15, 1942 to Lavina and William Griffiths where he grew up in the Eagle Hills on a working cattle ranch. He passed away at home in Grand Marais, Manitoba on Friday, October 3, 2008. Despite dealing all of his life with many serious health issues, Brian lived a varied, active and interesting life in Battleford, Saskatoon, Thompson and Grand Marais. For the last 13 years, he was a fulltime resident of Grand Marais, Manitoba where he became part of that community and where he will be remembered for his always willing and often unspoken donation of time and energy to community and charitable endeavors. His many Grand Marais friends honour Brian for his loyalty and humanity. Brian will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by Christine Stewart, his loving companion and soulmate of these last 13 years. His Grand Marais family , the Stewarts, Piltzmakers and Boomers will especially remember his generosity and Brian-like antics. His Irish Father , Bob Boomer, was a special friend and mentor to the Welshman . Sister Jeanne Laycock, twin brother Bruce Griffiths, and sister-in-law Diana Griffiths did good by him and cared for him constantly and lovingly in his last very difficult weeks of life. He was a fortunate man to have such family love and devotion. Brian loved dancing, working, Patricia Beach, books, sunsets on the lake, movies, his canine friend Tai Chi, laughing, Tofino, country music, really nice wood, his childhood horse Silver, flowers, Elvis Presley and the colour red. According to Brian's final wishes, his Grand Marais family and friends will have a party in his honour with only music (especially the mandolin), dancing, drinking, stories and laughter. Perhaps we will all wear red. A Red, Red Rose O my love's like a red, red rose That's newly sprung in June O my Love's like a melodie That's sweetly played in tune. As fair art thou, my bonnie lad, So deep in love am I; And I will love thee still, my Dear, Till a'the seas gang dry. Till a'the seas gang dry, my Dear, And the rocks melt wi'the sun: I will love thee still, my Dear, While the sands o'life shall run. And fair thee well my only Love! And fair thee well a while! And I will come again, my Love, Tho' it were ten thousand mile! Robbie Burns
