Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON LIONEL (TORCH) SILVERTHORNE On Tuesday, September 30, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, Gord passed away at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton, Ontario. Beloved husband of Helen for 43 years, loving father to Laura, Linda (Dave) and Alan (Robin) and cherished grandfather of Liam, Olivia and Ethan. He was predeceased by his parents, Alan and Avis Silverthorne, his older brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Marguerite and will be missed by his brother Blaine (Margaret); sister-in-law Lois (late Terry) and Helen's many sisters and brothers and their spouses. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews and many close friends. Torch was born in Winnipeg, MB on January 9, 1938 and lived in St. Vital attending Windsor School and St. Paul's College. He played and coached basketball and football, was a longtime volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a loyal member of the Conservative party. He had a quick wit and never lost his sense of humour, inspiring all with his courage and strength throughout his fight with cancer.
