JEAN BERNADETTE KEATING (nee MULCAHY) Peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, surrounded by family and with an Irish tune playing in the background, Jean Keating passed away at 92 years of age. Jean was predeceased by her husband Michael (Mick - April 19, 1982) and her eight siblings. Leaving to mourn Jean's loss is her beloved family; sons, Ted (Elaine) and Bob (Donna), daughter Brenda Hayes (Gordon), and her five granddaughters Kim, Andrea, Kristina, Stephanie, and Laura Keating, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, friends, and her extended family at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. Jean was born September 5, 1916 in Lynn Valley, BC. She met Mick during the war while she served as Corporal with the RAF. They married July 5, 1945 and chose Winnipeg as their home where they raised their family in the North End. Jean's devotion to the Catholic faith led her to volunteering and holding positions with the Catholic Women's League (CWL) and Sisters of Child Jesus, ultimately leading to the presidency of the Manitoba Chapter of the CWL. Jean was one of the founding members of St. Peter's Church, now located on Keewatin Street, and had a special chair reserved for her at Sunday mass. Jean was proud of her church and neighborhood and was actively involved in several committees of both. Her volunteer activities were her way of making a difference. Jean enjoyed her 92 years of life to the fullest. She loved to socialize, travel, and go to the theatre. Her favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren. Jean loved her coffee, crosswords, Werther's candies, and playing bingo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or St. Peter's Catholic Church. Prayers and eulogy will take place on Monday, October 13, 7:00 pm at St. Peter's Church, 748 Keewatin Street. Funeral mass will take place Tuesday, October 14, 10:30 a.m., also at St. Peter's Church, followed by a reception in the church hall. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
