He will also be missed by his 11 great-grandchildren Brent, Amanda, Sarah, Mekayla, Jenna, Saskia, Matthew, Kai, Isabella, Brodie and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born September 19, 1914 in Winnipeg. He was raised in the West End and attended Laura Secord and Gordon Bell schools. Dad spent many happy summers of his youth in Gimli, Manitoba with his siblings. He loved hockey and he shared his love of the game by coaching kids hockey. This translated in his senior years to never missing an NHL game from the comfort of his easy chair. Dad proudly served overseas during the Second World War. He retired from Eaton's in 1979 after 42 years of service in men’s and boys clothing. Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling to Calgary, Mexico and England and their very favorite place, Leeside Beach at Pine Dock on Lake Winnipeg, where we have many happy memories of the family cottage. Dad was a true Irishman, dressed dapper and was a real gentleman. Special thanks to the staff on the 4th Floor at Deer Lodge Center for their compassion & care for Dad and the family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson “In the Park” 1291 McGillivray Boulevard with Reverend Allen Faris of the St. James Presbyterian Church. A private family interment will follow.
