Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY FUNK (nee SAWATZKY) February 15, 1922 – October 13, 2008 Surrounded by love, Mary Funk passed away peacefully at the age of 86. She is lovingly remembered by her son John Funk, daughters Helena Fonseca (Mario), Elisabeth Carreiro (Tony), Lydia Yestrau (Hugh) and grandchildren Victor (Nidia), Elisabeth, Natalie, Julia, Landice and Brandon. Mary was predeceased by her husband Johann. Mary was born in Felsenbach, Ukraine and came to Canada in 1926. Her family settled in the Morden, Manitoba area. She married Johann on May 2, 1954, settled in Winnipeg and devoted her life to her family. She was a long time member of the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church. Special thanks to the 2nd floor staff at Lions Personal Care Center for their exceptional care, compassion and family support. Funeral service will be on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10:30 am at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
