Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBURTON ALLEN ROBINSON October 10, 1908 – October 15, 2008 Peacefully, just five short days after celebrating his 100th birthday with friends and family, Burton passed away after a brief illness. Affectionately know as “BA” by all who knew him, he was born October 10, 1908 and attended Mulvey & Kelvin Schools. He is survived by three sons, Bruce (Jane), Ross (Allana), Neil (Catherine) and one daughter Judith. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Brett, Leigh, Shea, Matt, Kaley, Sarah, Keith, and Owen. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine of 66 years, daughter-in-law Lynne and grandson Todd. In 1936 he formed his own lighting manufacturing agency and in 1947 incorporated B. A. Robinson Co. Ltd. as an electrical distributor from which he retired in 1985. In retirement he pursued his true mission in life, unbridled philanthropy with all in need, or a worthy cause. He is well known by countless charities for his donation of thousands of tickets to support events for underprivileged children. Over the years he served on many boards including the Manitoba Centennial Corporation, Society for Crippled Children, Electric Service League of Manitoba, Canadian Electrical Distributors Association, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Grace Hospital, Winnipeg Football Club, Winnipeg Canoe Club, and the Council of Catherine Booth Bible College. He was a founding member of Camp Manitou while on the Board of the Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg and was active for 31 years in the Rotary Club of Winnipeg – downtown. BA was an avid outdoorsman enjoying family Christmas ski holidays in the Rockies and many canoe trips in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. In 1944 he purchased a log cabin at Granite Lake, Northwestern Ontario, his favourite place to share time with family and friends. The LORD Is My Shepherd The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23 The funeral service will be held at Westminster United Church, Maryland at Westminster, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18th. Cremation has taken place. Thompson in the Park (925-1120) is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in his memory to Union Gospel Mission, University of Manitoba Bison Sports (Scholarship Fund), Grace Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.
