Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERAN (KAY) PETRONI (nee SUGGITT) April 20, 1916-October 18, 2008 Peacefully on October 18, 2008, at the Golden Links Lodge, Catheran passed away at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Michael and brother Cecil. She is survived by her daughter Jane (Doug) and siblings Lois, Gordon, Bobbie and Leonard (Tillie). Also mourning are many nieces and nephews. Catheran was a devoted wife and mother. She and Michael met before his service; she waited for him and they married on December 15, 1945, just a couple of months after he arrived back from overseas. He often called her his “one in a million”. Catheran loved the outdoors and spent many wonderful summers at her cottage in the Big Whiteshell. Here, with Jane and Doug and their many friends, she felt a part of a larger family. She also had many friends at Golden Links. One of her greatest pleasures was to be part of family gatherings. She especially enjoyed her open house birthday parties and family dinners at Uncle Leonard’s or at her nieces. She regularly attended the symphony, ballet and the theatre. Over the years she attended many recitals including every one of Jane’s students’ piano recitals. The students and their families became a part of another one of her special families. She loved people and everyone loved her; you couldn’t help it. Her special pets, Chloe and Ginger would be by her side constantly as she moved around the house or cottage. She often spoke of her dear Chancie and Buffy. Catheran lived a very colourful life and had an adventurous spirit. She enjoyed travelling with her daughter Jane, visiting across the U.S., Canada, and cruising on the Eastern Caribbean. She had much “joie de vivre” while her spirit showed both strength and gentleness. She truly knew the meaning of unconditional love and showed it to all who met her. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. The family wishes to sincerely thank Golden Links Lodge for their special love and care of Catheran given to her over the years. We would also like to thank the Cardiac Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for their care as well. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 or the Canadian Red Cross, 1111 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 0S8. A memorial celebration of Catheran’s life will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St., with Reverend Phyllis Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at St. Vital Cemetery. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
