Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGATHA THERESE KERR (nee LAFFERTY) February 4, 1931 – October 22, 2008 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Mom passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Remaining to forever cherish her loving memory are her two sons, Gordon (wife Marlene) of Winnipeg, Kenneth of Vancouver, BC; her three daughters Marlene Kerr (husband George) of White Rock, BC, Linda Gibson (husband Andrew) of Winnipeg, Gail Smakula (husband Allan) of Winnipeg; grandchildren Michael Gibson (wife Tiffany) of Winnipeg, Carolyn Kerr of Winnipeg, Darren Kerr of Winnipeg, Nicole Kerr of White Rock, BC and Kathryn Kerr of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren Garrick and Ryker Gibson of Winnipeg and Jazzlyn Hanna of Winnipeg. Sister, Germaine, wife of Keith Muncy (deceased); brother, Alphonse Lafferty, husband to Elizabeth; brother, Jean Louis Lafferty husband to Roseanna; brother-in-law Eric Gateley, husband of Annetoinette deceased; sister, Marie, wife of Donald Tralnberg; sister, Margaret, wife of Alex Beveridge (deceased); sister, Celine, wife of Richard Wentz deceased, wife of Roger Aaron deceased; sister, Alida, wife of Eugene Phaneuf; sister, Dorothy, wife of Gordon Cumming; and numerous nieces, nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, our father, Lionel (Len); her father Henri Lafferty; her mother Marie Madeleine Mercredi Lafferty; her sisters Jeanette Lafferty and Annetoinette (Anne) Gateley; brothers Alphonse Lafferty, Magloire Lafferty. Mom, one of twelve children, was born in Stoney Rapids, SK. February 4, 1931, where she loved the outdoors. She spoke of growing up fishing, cutting wood, picking berries, her dog team and dances. At the age of 15, Mom moved to Saskatoon where she worked at the Senator Hotel. While in Saskatoon she met our Dad at a Spring dance. They married and had two sons, before moving to Winnipeg and completing their family with three daughters. Agatha worked for many years at the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital. She was a long time member of the C.W.L. She also loved reading, hockey games and watching the weather channel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28, 10:30 a.m. in the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street, with Rev. Msgr. Louis J. McCloskey, presiding. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be Darren Kerr, Michael Gibson, Rene Phanef, Willie Butler, Allan Smakula and Andrew Gibson. Thanks to Holy Family Nursing Home, St. Mary’s ward, for the excellent care and love that you provided Mom over the last several years. A special thanks to our Auntie Alida and Uncle Gene for always being there. If you so desire donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Mom, You were our glue that kept us together and showed us that love and family is always very important. We will always hold you close in our hearts and prayers and you will forever be missed.
