JEAN (IRENE) LEITER February 1, 1923 - October 26, 2008 It is with profound sadness that Irene's family announces her passing at Oakview Place on October 26, 2008 at the age of 85. Mom will be sadly missed by her family and all those who knew her. Irene is lovingly remembered by her son, Bruce (Judy) and their sons Ryan (Nikki), Brendan and Colton, daughter Joanne McShane (Robert), grand-daughter, Shannon Nelles (Daniel) and their children Maddox and Jillana, her other son Byron Doyle and many nieces, nephews and friends. Irene was predeceased by her one and only love, Bob; her mother Jean McDermid; step-father, Neil McDermid and father, Milton Bruce. Irene was born in Brandon, MB. in 1923, whereupon she was lovingly adopted by Milton and Jean Bruce of Winnipeg. Irene was raised in the St. James area and lived in the same area for the rest of her life. She married her sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Leiter on September 7, 1942 and remained forever in love until dad's sudden passing on Sept. 11, 1998. After Bob returned home from the Second World War, Irene left the work force and began to raise their family in 1949, becoming the best stay at home mom her children could ask for. Mom was a member of the St. James Legion #4 and with Bob became an active member of the Over 60 Club and Over 60 Whist Club. She was a special person, reaching out to and touching all those who knew her. If you were a friend of Irene, you were a friend for life. A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow at St. James Legion #4. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
