CHARLES WEIK Peacefully, surrounded by his family Dad passed away on October 26, 2008 at the Arborg and District Health Centre. Dad was born on December 5, 1914 in Rosenburg, MB. He was the eldest of six children and grew up on the family farm. At the age of 15 his family moved two miles east to Homer where he lived until he married Helen Koblun on November 24, 1935. Together they bought a farm and raised their nine children. In the early years Dad farmed in the summer and worked in the bush camps in the winter. In December 1990 Mom and Dad retired to town. Retired is relative, as Dad commuted to the farm to combine and help out for 15 years. As well during this time he helped neighbours and family with many yard and garden projects. Dad took great pride in all that he did, no job was too large or small to be done perfectly. One of his favorite things was to have all of his family gathered at home on a Sunday afternoon. He instilled a strong work ethic in all his children which has served us very well. He is survived by Helen, his loving wife of nearly 73 years; four sons, Herman (Lorraine), Ronnie (Sharon), Albert (Barb), Raymond (Mavis); three daughters, Ruth (Steve) Deneka, Judy (Sherman) Fraser, Donna (Leslie) Gislason; one son-in-law Harold Barylski, 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by all of his siblings, Margaret Dixon, Elsie (John) Timchishen, William (Erica) Weik, Kay Motz, Lee Drabik as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son Frederick; daughter Deanna; daughter-in-law Ellen; brothers-in-law Fred Dixon, Johnny Motz and Philip Drabik. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31 at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Box 160, Arborg, MB, R0C 0A0. REST IN PEACE DAD, WE LOVE YOU Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.
