Alf is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elaine (Wall); daughter Janet (Roy) Parker, with Courtney and Katelyn; son Connor, with Jessica and Cody; sisters, Edythe (Allan) Arnott, Isobel (Jim) Conner and many nieces and nephews. Alf was predeceased by brother Bert and his wife Doreen. Alf grew up on the family farm in Shadeland, attended Pearce School, Morden High School and graduated from U. of M. in Agriculture. In 1970 he began a new career in marketing with Prairie Pride Enterprises, NPD and Daco, retiring in 1993. Alf lived in Morden, Starbuck and Sanford before moving to Agape Villa in Winnipeg. Alf devoted his life to his family, church and community. Alf loved his family dearly, was happiest among them and never failed to tell them how proud he was of each one. Alf was dedicated to serving others in his quiet, gentle and dependable manner. Alf always treasured his many friends. Farming was his passion, plus he had a special fondness of nature. Alf was a voracious reader, especially when his health was failing. Other interests were gardening, woodworking and attending sporting events. Our family is sincerely grateful to everyone for their acts of caring and kindness toward Alf, particularly his many doctors, nurses, home care personnel and St. Boniface Hospital staff. You did your utmost to extend his life. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Rock, 1397 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Alf's memory may be made to Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
