STELLA GRUDESKI It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on September 27, 2008 at Campbell River Hospital, B.C. at the wonderful age of 94. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Marie, her husband Isaac, her parents Nicholas and Genevieve Malazdrewicz, and her brothers Walter, Albert, Anthony, Frank, and sisters Agnes and Emily. Stella Marie (Malazdrewicz) Grudeski was born May 2, 1914 in Garland, Manitoba, the eldest of nine children. At the age of 17 she married Isaac and moved to Polonia and then to Riding Mountain to farm. Upon retiring the couple moved to Neepawa. After Isaac's death Stella moved to Brandon and finally to Powell River, BC. to live with her daughter Genevieve Majcher. Stella will be missed by her daughter, Genevieve, son Arnold (Elsie), her grandchildren, Jo-Ann, David (Tina), Shaunah, Lori, and Garnet (Elsie), her great grandchildren Celine and Davis, her brothers John (Josephine), Edward (Muriel), and sisters-in-law Anne, Frances, and Gayle. Her zest for life brought her many friends and took her on international adventures to Poland, Italy, and Mexico. She will be remembered by her family for her fabulous baking skills, green thumb, sense of humor, appreciation of music, love of curling, and enjoyment of debating politics. Prayers were held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at St. Gerard's Church and the Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Church of the Assumption, both in Powell River. A reception, celebrating Stella's life took place in the Parish Hall. Cremation followed. Burial will take place at a later date in Neepawa, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Powell River General Hospital Foundation Cat Scan Fund, 5000 Joyce Ave., Powell River, BC V8A 5R3 would be appreciated.
