Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFAYE PESOCHIN 1914 - 2008 Peacefully, at home on October 12th, Faye Pesochin, in her 93rd year. Born to Esther and Israel Gillman on November 24th, 1914, Faye was the last surviving sibling in a family of three brothers and three sisters. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Sam, in 2006, Faye is survived by her children Robert and David (Lynne), grandchildren Lee Pesochin, Jon Pesochin, Teri Pesochin (Shachaf Tcherni), Marlo Morris (Marshall), and great-grandchildren Emma Pesochin, Sarah, Tyson and Stephanie Morris and Rio Pesochin. She will be sadly missed by Karen (Pesochin) Wolinsky. Faye was truly an amazing woman. To paraphrase scholar Susan Schorr: her worth is far beyond what can be measured in material things. With her husband, a union of trust existed. In all her endeavours she brought light and guidance to all who passed by. She always sought to supply the needs of her family and her community. She exhibited joy and vitality and attacked her tasks with enthusiasm. Her happiness shone for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. She lived a life of action and she will be praised for her deeds and her life of valour. Aside from Faye and Sam's many philanthropic commitments, both in the Winnipeg community and for the State of Israel, Faye was a model for the garment manufacturers in Winnipeg and also taught modeling, as well she devoted her time in countless ways to many organizations. She served as President of Hertzlia Chapter of Pioneer Women, President of the Evening Group of National Council of Jewish Women, and President of the River Heights Chapter of B'nai B'rith Women. She was a dedicated hospital volunteer as well. Faye's home was always open to family and friends. She hosted countless teas, fundraisers and family simchot, as well as the traditional Shabbat and holiday dinners. No one was ever turned away from Faye and Sam's home. She was an unbelievable cook and a proficient baker of some of the most decadent tortes and desserts ever to grace a pastry table. Faye excelled at making memories. Each child, grandchild and great-grandchild and friend will carry in their hearts something special to remember this magical lady. Summers at the cottage at Winnipeg Beach, countless hours of mah-jong with the girlfriends , playing board games with her children and grandchildren, winter vacations and spoiling the grandchildren at the condo in Margate Florida, her love of animals which allowed the family dogs to overtake the cottage during family visits at the beach. Faye loved watching all spectator sports with her family and participated in league bowling well into her eighties, both in Winnipeg and Florida. Did we mention mah-jong with the girls? The ever present group of aunties ... a lifetime of friendship so rarely experienced. Faye, Bertha, Bessie, Cecile, Phyllis, Ricky and Ruthy, their husbands and children, whose relationships formed their own unique family unit defying the saying that blood is thicker than water. Graveside services were held on Thursday, October 16th at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, with Rabbi Larry Pinsker and Bill Weissmann officiating. Pallbearers were Bobby Pesochin, Ron Ganetsky, Miles Rothman, Marshall Morris, Shachaf Tcherni and David Novikoff. If desired, donations can be made in Faye's memory to the Faye and Sam Pesochin Endowment Fund at the Jewish Foundation, The Canadian Human Rights Museum, or the charity of your choice. Mom, Baba, Grandma, Faye, Aunty Faye, how you were loved and how you will be missed.
