Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH ANNE SIMUNDSON Peacefully at home, the evening of Saturday, October 4, 2008, surrounded by the love of family and friends, including husband Grant Jones, mother Jean Simundson, father Geordie Simundson, brother Chuck Simundson (Malcolm Smith), sister Katherine Simundson, and her Campbell River Mom and best friend, Chris Nicolaye. Unable to be present, but very much with her in love were brother Bill Simundson (Dennis Bishop), sister Heather Dufour (Darren), nieces Amanda and Gena, sisters-in-law Olwen Hoffman (Larry), Lorie Jones-Flory (Merit), close friends Ron Nicolaye, David Nicolaye, the rest of the Nicolaye family, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends. Born June 3 1967, Elizabeth grew up in Pine Dock, Manitoba. She graduated from Miles Macdonell Collegiate in Winnipeg in 1985. Much of her spare time was spent at the EK YM/YWCA. Beth then attained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 1988. She loved to learn, and at the time of her passing was working on a Master's Degree in Counselling. Elizabeth worked in a number of agencies supporting people living with disabilities, and provided psychological support to cancer patients and survivors. Along with husband Grant, she served in the community in professional and voluntary roles. Elizabeth loved life and worked to make the most of each day. She challenged others to do the same. Her pleasures were spending time with family and friends, especially through quilting and flower arranging with Chris, boating, camping, skiing, scuba diving, food and wine. She recently took up motorcycling. Special thanks to Dr Jim Proctor and Geri Arkell from the Oncology unit at the Campbell River Hospital, who not only provided medical care, strength and compassion to Elizabeth and her family, but also demonstrated deep personal care. A gathering of family and friends was held at the Maritime Heritage Centre in Campbell River on October 25. A Manitoba memorial service will be held at the Riverton Community Hall on Saturday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Nanette Mckay officiating. Elizabeth specifically requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Campbell River Hospice Society, 104-301 Dogwood Street, Campbell River, BC, V9W 2Y1 or to the North East Palliative Care Program, Box 250, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0.
