JEAN WOLFE (nee FUGA) September 24, 1933 - October 17, 2008 Peacefully, on Friday, October 17, Jean Wolfe passed away at age 75 following a brave three-year battle with cancer. Jean will be deeply missed by Nicholas, her loving husband of 55 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Jim (Doris) of Calgary; her daughter, Lisa Tober of Winnipeg; and her grandchildren, Melissa and Bradley Wolfe of Calgary and Alexander and Nicholas Tober of Winnipeg. Also mourning Jean's passing are her sister Lesia Hrynyk (Herb) of Burnaby, BC; her brother- and sister-in-law, Mike and Esther Wolf of Winnipeg; her nieces and nephews, Cathy Dale, Terry Wolf, Jennifer Bradley and Jason Hrynyk; and the rest of her extended family. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Tekla and Jacob Fuga; her parents-in-law, Maria and Nicholas Wolf, and her son-in-law, Peter Tober. Jean was born, raised and resided in Winnipeg her entire life. Throughout her life, Jean was a tower of strength. Her devotion to her husband, the love and guidance she provided to her children and grandchildren, her tireless support of her parents and parents-in-law, especially in their later years, and the love she shared with the rest of her family exemplified the person that Jean was, always giving of herself. A significant part of Jean's life was her 41 year employment with the Hudson's Bay Company. She began working at The Bay in 1958, starting as a retail clerk and cashier. She then progressed through various roles in The Bay's back-office that spanned the operations in credit, invoicing, head office (Hudson's Bay House) and culminated in her role as Accounts Payable Supervisor. Jean knew the workings of The Bay . . . if the numbers weren't right, she knew where to look for the problem and how to fix it. She was tough but always fair. Retiring in 1999, what Jean enjoyed most during the years at The Bay was the people she worked with, and the lifelong friendships that she made while there. Next to her family, Jean's second love was the cottage that Nick built at Belair and which they shared and enjoyed for the last 23 years ... summer weekends were made for the cottage. Jean fought a very courageous battle with her illness. She endured two significant operations and the occasional setback during the three years since she was diagnosed with cancer. Through it all, Jean remained calm, brave and positive in her attitude. She was determined to enjoy her life to the fullest and did so until the very end. Jean loved the autumn; September and October were her favourite months of the year. The significant events of her life happened in the autumn . . . it was when she was born, when she married, and when she left this earth for heaven. Jean's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Steven Latosinsky of CancerCare Manitoba for his expert surgical skills and sound advice. The family also thanks the staff of Riverview Medical Center (with special thanks to Sabrina); and her family doctor, Dr. Stephen Husarewycz. Following Jean's wishes, a private family service was held on Friday, October 24, followed by interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
