Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY PATRICIA SCHULTZ (nee KALUPAR) January 18, 1946 - October 29, 2008 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, baba, sister and aunt, Shirley into the hands of our Lord, on October 29, 2008 at the St. Boniface Hospital. She was 62 years young. She will remain forever in the hearts of her loving partner in life and all things, her husband Art; her children, Kim (Jamie) Tibold and their children, Shianne-Adel (Shawn Quinn), Colby, Paige, Danton and Braden; Eric (Amanda) and their daughter Autumn; Sean (Bonnie) and their sons Deven and Austin. She also leaves a lasting memory to cherish in her great-granddaughter Sadie. Shirley was born on January 18, 1946 in Winnipeg to Michael and Katie Kalupar. She was the sixteenth of eighteen children. She also leaves to mourn her memory, her siblings, Mary (Bob) Sobiak, Anne (Mike) Swidnicki, Stan Kalupar, Alec Kalupar, Irene (Cliff) Ross, Edward (Denise) Kalupar and Vivian (Paul) Sedlebauer as well as sisters and brother-in-law, Lynda, Sheila, Irene, Pat, Joan, Donna and Dave; many nieces and nephews, including her Godchild Kathy Verway. She was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Katie, her brothers, Bill, Mike, Joe, Mac, Peter, Steve, Nick and Rudy and her sister Jean. Shirley spent her earliest years growing up in the Pine Ridge area of Birds Hill, later moving to the farm in Transcona. Eventually she took a job at Weston's Bakery, moving in with her sister Jean in St. James. It was at this time she met the love of her life, her very best friend, Art. They married on May 8, 1965 and began raising their own family in St. James, eventually moving to their home in East Selkirk. As her children grew, Shirley expanded her own horizons, taking a position at the Selkirk Mental Health Center in 1985 where she worked and made many lasting friendships over the next fifteen years until her retirement in 2000. Shirley was an adventurer in life who loved to fish, camp, garden, play cards and who spent many an hour whiling away in her kitchen, sharing her culinary expertise with friends and family alike. Shirley visited many wonderful exotic places with Art and always relished in retelling her adventures once home. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she shared herself with selflessly. One of mom's most passionate undertakings was the Kalupar Family Reunion and Kalupar Reunion Book which began in the year 2000 and still continues today every July in the Birds Hill Park campground. Her indomitable spirit and zest for life will forever live in our hearts. Her motto in life we will carry forever Actions speak louder than words. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Monday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. 6 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB., R3L 0K6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
