KATIE DEMETRUK Peacefully on October 31, 2008 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Katie Demetruk, aged 105 years, of Gonor, MB. Katie was born in Austria on February 8, 1903, came to Canada in 1926, and has lived in the Gonor area since 1941.Katie loved to have company, both family and friends. Whether it was Christmas, birthdays, special occasions or the lottery ticket parties, Katie loved to entertain. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and nature. She was a very hard working person who was loved by all who knew her. She leaves surviving daughters Peggy and Marge, a son Ed, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, two son-in-laws and a daughter-in-law. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Fr. Oris Naherniak officiating. Viewing for one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Churchyard, Gonor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Church, Gonor c/o Alex Pawluk, 6957 Henderson Hwy, Lockport MB R1B 1A4. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
